Olade technical specialists gave the Workshop on Methodological Harmonization of Energy Statistics in Paraguay

In the Vice Ministry of Mines and Energy of Paraguay, 32 professionals from different national institutions of the country, gathered to be part of the “Workshop on Methodological Harmonization of Energy Statistics” that was developed within the framework of the Project “Implementation of the National Energy Information System for Paraguay – sieParaguay ”. The technical part of this training, which was held on August 6 and 7, 2019, was given by the specialists, Targelia Rivadeneira and David Delgado, of the Latin American Energy Organization (Olade).

The main focus of this activity was to train the participants on the harmonization of the methodology for the preparation of energy balances, with the International Recommendations on Energy Statistics (IRES methodology) of the United Nations. This space was also used to raise the issue of logistics organization and exchange of ideas, about future actions in the coordination and implementation of the sieParaguay project.

The execution of this workshop was supported by the Vice Ministry of Mines and Energy of Paraguay and financial resources of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

Among the participants were officials from: The National Electricity Administration; Central Bank of Paraguay; General Directorate of Statistics, Surveys and Censuses; National Customs Office; Yacyretá Binational Entity; National Forestry Institute; Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development; Industry and commerce ministry; Paraguayan oils; Technical Planning Secretariat and the Energy Systems Research Group of the Polytechnic Faculty of the National University of Asunción.
