Olade makes available the working paper: Electric vehicles in Guatemala, impact analysis and implementation proposal

Olade publishes the working paper “Electric vehicles in Guatemala: Impact analysis and implementation proposal”, a study that analyzes the economic and environmental impact of electric vehicles in Guatemala and describes the proposed actions to promote the development of the market in the country. The study develops a baseline of average consumption and CO2 emissions by type of private vehicle in the period between 2007 and 2016. It also proposes four scenarios of electric vehicle penetration for the period 2017 – 2030. This document, which was prepared by Fernando Anaya, also identifies the main barriers to the adoption of this technology in the country. It suggests a road map to overcome the obstacles identified and an institutional map with the distribution of responsibilities among the different State entities. The activities linked to this study were carried out within the framework of the Cooperation Project: Climate Change and Energy, Sub-project: Technical Assistance to develop mitigation and adaptation initiatives to climate change in the energy sector. This document received the financial support of the Canadian Cooperation.
