Approach to new challenges in the hydrocarbons sector at the 1st International Forum on Gas, Petrochemicals and Green Fuels, Bolivia 2018

Santa Cruz, Bolivia was the venue where experts from the hydrocarbon sector from international organizations, public institutions and private companies met, with the objective of getting to know the scientific and technological advances, the challenges and the current world situation of the sector for the planning of strategies. This event took place from August  28 to 31, 2018.

The Director of Integration, Access and Energy Security of Olade, Medardo Cadena, participated in this meeting with a speech on the “Impact of Green Fuels on the Energy Matrix of the Region”. In his speech he presented data on the current situation of green fuels at the global and regional level, their perspectives and conditions for their development at the regional level.

Part of the conclusions of his presentation mentioned that in Latin America and the Caribbean there is a seeming abundance of land that could be used for energy crops. He also highlighted that recent statistics at the regional level confirm the low correlation between the expansion of the use of biofuels and the prices of their raw materials. He concluded by saying that the region can improve its energy sustainability through the use of biofuels.

The closing ceremony was attended by the Vice-President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Álvaro García Linera, the Minister of Hydrocarbons, Luis Sánchez, the President of YPFB, Óscar Barriga, among other authorities.

The International Forum on Gas, Petrochemicals and Green Fuels Bolivia 2018, was organized by the Ministry of Hydrocarbons of Bolivia, the Bolivian Chamber of Hydrocarbons and Energy and YPFB.
