XXXIX MEETING OF MINISTERS RE-EMPHASIZED OLADE'S ROLE IN THE REGION
The XXXIX Meeting of Ministers of OLADE, held within the framework of that organization's 35th Anniversary, reiterated its recognition of the Latin American Energy Organization as the institution that coordinates joint cooperation and assessment activities towards regional and sub-regional energy integration.
The Meeting of Ministers congratulated the Permanent Secretariat for its on-going work in cooperation with the member countries, and strengthened the latter's commitment to participate actively in helping the organization fulfill its mission of contributing to integration, sustainable development and energy security of the region and its sub-regions.
Likewise, it reiterated its thanks to the Government of Ecuador, as the country hosting this organization, through the tribute paid by the Permanent Secretariat with a plaque unveiled last November 4, which reads: "OLADE, upon commemorating its 35 years of existence (1973 - 2008), pays tribute in gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Ecuador, especially to the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, for the continual support provided in its capacity as the host country of this organization, and to PETROECUADOR for having provided this building for the Permanent Secretariat to function."
