THE MEETING OF THE DIRECTIVE COMMITTEE No 62 WAS INAUGURATED BY THREE MINISTERS OF STATE

On February 28, 2008 the Meeting of the Directive Committee (CODI) No 62 of OLADE was inaugurated in Quito-Ecuador.
The inauguration ceremony took place in presence of the Energy Secretary of Argentina, Mr. Daniel Cameron, who is currently the Chair of the Directive Committee and the Secretary of State who is also the President of the Energy Commission of the Dominican Republic (Member Country of the Directive Committee), Mr. Arístides Fernández Zucco. Both Ministers highlighted the importance of OLADE's work in the Region.
The Minister of Mines and Petroleum of Ecuador, Galo Chiriboga Zambrano, spoke on behalf of the President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, about the willingness of the country, as the headquarters of OLADE, to support technically, logistically and administratively the proposals of the Organization aimed at energy development of the Region.
The Third Meeting of CODI will conclude on February 29 and it will count with the presence of delegates and representatives from the following Member Countries of the Organization: Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
One of the main purposes of this meeting is to approve the triennial work plan of the Permanent Secretariat. In addition, the Report of Activities and the current status of the Permanent Secretariat will be presented to the delegates.
Furthermore, a follow-up will be done on both, the fulfillment of the Medellin Statement regarding the importance of Energy Efficiency, and the Ministerial Decisions established on November 30, 2007 during the XXXVIII Meeting of Ministers of OLADE concerning regional and sub-regional energy integration of Latin America and the Caribbean.
