THE REGIONAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROGRAM (PALCEE) STARTS

OLADE has launched the Energy Efficiency Program for Latin America and the Caribbean (PALCEE) which consists of technical visits to Ministries of Energy in El Salvador, Grenada, Jamaica and Nicaragua, in coordination with the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).

PALCEE`s main activity is to develop a proposed institutional framework to support Energy Efficiency programs in each of the beneficiary countries.

The project aims at strengthening the institutional character in member countries for promoting the development of energy efficiency programs and as a means of achieving sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean. PALCEE in its first phase will be implemented in two Latin American countries and two Caribbean countries.

The development of energy efficiency requires a long term effort, as isolated tasks have temporary results and its effects quickly disappear, thus, it is absolutely necessary to bring institutionalization so its results can reach a resource level for the energy sector.
