For this reason, since 2006 the master program is delivered at USFQ, located only 15 minutes from Quito-Ecuador.
PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS
This Program is aimed at high potential professionals of Latin American and the Caribbean, both technical and managerial, from government and private energy and environment enterprises.
Students accepted in the program will have shown an ability to produce results and to communicate effectively.
The candidates for the program shall have a relevant undergraduate degree from an internationally recognized university and shall be fluent in Spanish and English.
Preferably, they should have three years of work experience.
FACULTY
Internationally recognized academics and professionals from the following University of Calgary and USFQ Faculties work together to deliver a high-quality interdisciplinary Masters of Science in Sustainable Energy Development Degree Program:
• UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY Faculties of Engineering, Environmental Design, Jurisprudence, and the Haskayne School of Business.
• UNIVERSIDAD SAN FRANCISCO DE QUITO Faculties of Administration, Environment and Biological Sciences, Laws, and the Polytechnic School.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
The program is delivered to students via Courses and Seminaries, field trips and individual and group final research projects. The language used in the courses is English.
DURATION OF THE PROGRAM
The Program is 14-months in duration and has been designed for full time students; however, there is the possibility for accepting part time students. Usually part time students take three or four courses per year, completing the Program over three to four years. The minimum requirement is taking two courses per year. The maximum period to complete requirements for the degree is six years.
The goal of the part time program is to provide the possibility of combining the program without leaving professional responsibilities.
THE DEGREE
Graduates of the Program will receive an interdisciplinary degree, a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Sustainable Energy Development from the Faculty of Graduate Studies from the UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY.
