SUSTAINABLE ENERGY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM BENEFITS RURAL COMMUNITY IN BOLIVIA

On October 15, 2008, OLADE's Executive Secretary, Carlos Arturo Flórez Piedrahita, and the Renewable Energy and Environment Coordinator, Byron Chiliquinga, paid a technical visit to the projects under development in the community of San Antonio de Lipez, department of Potosí, Bolivia, where they witnessed the results of the Sustainable Energy Development Program.

 
REGIONAL ENERGY INTEGRATION FORUM TO DISCUSS UNIVERSAL ENERGY ACCESS AND ENERGY INTEGRATION

"Solidarity, Cooperation and Complementarity for Universal Access and Energy Integration in Latin America and the Caribbean" is the central theme to be discussed at the III Regional Energy Integration Forum (FIER 2008), to be held on November 12 and 13, 2008, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

 
OLADE DEFINES ENERGY COOPERATION PLANS WITH THE CARIBBEAN SUB-REGION

"The Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) will establish new lines of cooperation and work activities in member countries of the Caribbean Sub-Region", said OLADE's Executive Secretary, Carlos Arturo Flórez Piedrahita, at the end of his official mission to Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago and Suriname from September 30 to October 3, 2008.

 
THE LATIN AMERICAN CARBON FORUM WILL BRING TOGETHER AGENTS INVOLVED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF CLEAN DEVELOPMENT MECHANISM PROJECTS

The city of Santiago de Chile will be the venue for the third edition of the Latin American Carbon Forum, which will be held on October 28-30, 2008. This event will bring together stakeholders in the carbon market: project owners and developers, representatives from the National CDM Offices and Investment Promotion Agencies, CDM governance bodies, as well as carbon market intermediaries and service providers.

REFLECTIONS ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY - OLADE

• The State's investment in Energy Efficiency has a multiplying effect in benefit of the population.

This was one of the affirmations highlighted during the I Latin American and Caribbean Energy Efficiency Seminar, during which experts recognized in OLADE the natural forum for promoting Energy Efficiency in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Edition No 9 - June, 2008

The 9th Edition of the OLADE News Bulletin, which corresponds to the month of June 2008, includes the article in Spanish titled "Gas Natural en el Cono Sur: A través del Mar y para la Gente” (Natural Gas in the Southern Cone: Through the Sea and to People), written by Mr. Mauricio Medinaceli Monrroy, Hydrocarbons Coordinator of the Organization. This article presents the general aspects of natural gas markets of the Southern Cone and proposes some conjectures about the future perspectives of this energy source in this sub-region.

Also, in this edition, you will find an opinion piece about biofuels and food security, written by the Executive Secretary of OLADE as well as a news summary and the annual program of the regional events institutionalized by the Organization.
