The Latin American Energy Organization with the support of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is organizing a training workshop on “Designing Sustainable Energy Systems” (Message Model), that will be held from July 24th to August 4th, 2006 in Quito, Ecuador.

The purpose of this workshop is to provide training in evaluating energy technologies in terms of their social, economic and environmental benefits and costs, and in building sustainable energy systems.

Representatives of energy ministries from Latin America and the Caribbean countries, and specialized organizations involved in energy sector planning and development will attend the event.

Topics to be covered during the workshop are the following: energy system designs and sustainability conditions; detail discussion of the Message system and methodology; training in the application of this approach with the computer package through examples and developing country-specific case studies using national data provided to the workshop by each participating team.

This workshop will be developed in English only.
