The Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) in coordination with the Vice Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru and the Canadian International Development Agency (ACDI), have organized the National Workshop: “Peruvian Experience in the Energy Markets Operation”, that will be held on March 21st, 2006 in Lima-Peru.

The Vice Minister of Energy and Mines, Mr. Juan Miguel Cayo, will offer a presentation at the workshop, where authorities and energy experts will be present. At the workshop, they will debate about the lessons learned by Peru after energy markets restructuring and the insertion of competition among public and private stakeholders.

This activity is part of the project “Competition in Energy Markets”, carried out by OLADE with the financial support of ACDI, whose goal is to analyze the level of competition obtained in the operation of the energy markets in Latin America and Caribbean.

The conclusions agreed in the workshop will be inserted in a final report about energy markets, report that will include the cases of Brazil, Chile, and Trinidad and Tobago, countries, where similar activities will be carried out as well.
