With funding from the Canadian Cooperation, OLADE supported the event “International, National and Municipal Transparency of the Extractive Sector” in the Municipality of Cedros (Honduras). The event was held with the aim of intensifying the socialization of Honduras EITI- 2014 report.
During the event, successful experiences of the mining company, civil society and government with the implementation of EITI in Honduras were presented.
The event was attended by the High Representative and the National Coordinator of EITI, Dr. Carlos Lopez Contreras, the Mayor of the Cedros Municipality, Dr. Carlos David Castro, the Regional Coordinator of OLADE in Honduras, Manuel Manzanares and Mrs. Martha Ligia Vides, Coordinator of Hydrocarbons, among others.
Mrs. Vides expressed the relevance of transparency in the extractive industries and the benefits its brings to the country, such as increased investments in the sector, the creation and consolidation of better institutions and, most importantly, trust among stakeholders.
