Olade and the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology of Jamaica held the workshop “Management of Human Resources, Energy Statistics and Awareness in Planning”

In the city of Kingston-Jamaica on August 8, 2018 Olade and the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology of Jamaica held the workshop on “Management of Human Resources, Energy Statistics and Awareness in Planning“, An event that takes place within the framework of the project”Strengthening Capacities of Caribbean Energy Statistics” which is financed by the World Bank.

The workshop had important achievements focused on strengthening capacities in matters related to the management of energy statistics, developing new skills related to the Energy Information System (sieLAC), advancing with the generation of energy information at the national level and exposing the opportunities it presents to promote planning in the sector.

The Director of Project Management of the Ministry of Energy of Jamaica, Horace Buckley, at the opening of the workshop mentioned that Jamaica currently has 7.8% of renewable energy in its energy matrix and its goal in the coming years is to have 11.2% for which this project will help the country to obtain information available in an accurate and accurate manner, which can ensure the sustainable energy future for Jamaica.

Representatives of the different energy sectors of Jamaica as delegates of the Petrojam refinery, utility companies, energy producers, representatives of the industrial and commercial sectors, participated during this workshop.

A delegation of Olade consultants attended the conference and held technical meetings with various entities of the sector such as JPS, JEP and uTech, where a survey was conducted on the management of statistical information and responsibilities regarding the provision of information and data quality.

This occasion was used to form jointly with the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology of Jamaica, the energy committee for the implementation of the Energy Information System of Jamaica and the institutionalization of the country’s energy information committee.
