Electricity Coordination

The generation of electric energy required to supply the future demand depends on the use of the energy sources of the region. The energy reserves are concentrated in some countries and that is why the efforts for the optimal use of these should be promoted, as well as regional integration through the interconnected transmission of electric systems.

To meet these challenges, OLADE´s Electricity Coordination contributes with several processes to improve the infrastructure development of the electricity sector in Member Countries, aiming at an economic, responsible, reliable and secure electric power supply.

Processes:

  • Participate and contribute to international studies of integration of the electricity sector.
  • Disseminate and encourage the options for development of electricity generation from alternative sources in LAC, including the nuclear option.
  • Support the formulation of energy policies, encourage the creation of regulations in the electricity sector to promote integration between countries in the region.
  • Promote the dissemination of the best practices and exchange of knowledge of the successful experiences.

Objective:

Contribute to the development of electric efficiency to reach economic and social welfare of our nations.
