General Objective
- Bringing together key players in the promotion and use of biofuels in Latin America and the Caribbean, jointly with representatives of entities that carry out research, development and practical application of crop associated with microalgae production, the use of technologies for biofuel production for aviation and the use of new types of biofuels.
Specific Objectives
- To know of the current status of development and implementation of national biofuels in each of the Latin America and the Caribbean countries as well as its outlook.
- To present the state of the art of microalgae development at international level, with emphasis in American countries, highlighting the progress made in biofuel production and development projects.
- To disseminate existing experiences in the production and use of biofuels for aircrafts, highlighting the production processes and existing business initiatives.
- To inform attendees about the progress in the production and use of new forms of biofuels such as butanol.
- To publicize the document prepared by OLADE / IICA / FAO / ECLAC on the State of the Art of 2nd and 3rd generation Biofuels in Latin America and the Caribbean.
- To encourage the exchange of experiences and the formation of strategic partnerships between countries delegates, researchers, technology owners and the private sector for the development of new projects.

The event will conduct plenary sessions, roundtables, discussion panels and experience presentation panels, whose exhibits will address the following topics:
- Traditional Biofuels Public Policies
- Biofuels classification in relation to the capacity of reducing GHG emissions and its consequences for the biofuels market.
- State of the art and experiences on the production of biofuels from algae.
- State of the art of production technologies for biofuels for aviation and experiences with using Camelina and Jatorpha
- New liquid biofuels: Butanol potential.
- Political, environmental and economical implications of advanced generation biofuels production - Panel discussion.
- Overview of the development and implementation of biofuels in the LAC countries.
- Prospects of Biofuels in Latin America and the Caribbean: situation in 2006 and 2010 and expected results for 2015
